CELTA - the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults - focuses on teaching and learning strategies for EFL/ESOL and is mainly practical. In addition to your taught sessions, you will need to allow extra time for independent study, assignments and lesson preparation.
We offer the course in various modes to suit your circumstances - part-time or full-time, evening or day. Our teaching staff are qualified - at least to Diploma and/or MA in Linguistics - and highly experienced, with many years of teaching and training expertise.
Our teachers are currently planning for the safest ways to deliver this course for January 2021. We have been delivering all of our courses online since the outbreak of Coronavirus in March 2020, and we are fully equipped to continue this for as long as is necessary.
We are planning to deliver the course in a mixed format - blending online lessons with face-to-face teaching – as and when we feel that, on the basis of Government advice and our own risk assessments, it is safe to do so. We’ll continue to review our plans and keep you updated on changes as your course progresses.

CELTA is assessed through written and assignments and practical teaching. There are four written assignments (each 750–1,000 words), which focus on:
Your teaching practice will also be assessed, over a total of 6 hours, working with adult classes at a minimum of two levels of ability. Assessment is based on your overall performance.
