At CANDI, we are dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for your child and are committed to working with you to help your child achieve their goals and succeed whilst studying at college.
Coming to college is different to staying on at school or going to a sixth form centre; here, your child will be treated like an adult, giving them the independence necessary for university and employment. Each of our students are individuals – whether they are following an academic or vocational route – and we offer each of them unique support to help them achieve their goals and succeed whilst at college.
We offer three main routes for your child to progress into university or employment – A Levels, vocational courses and apprenticeships. You can find out more in about our courses.
Our Learner Experience team are here to support, encourage and help your child thrive at CANDI. They provide quality advice and guidance and can also offer learning support to help if your child needs extra help with English or Maths, if they are dyslexic or if they have a disability or a learning difficulty.
We also offer a wide range of specialist programmes for learners with learning difficulties or disabilities at our King’s Cross Centre, Alexandra Centre in Camden and Kennet West Centre in Westminster, with programmes leading to accredited qualifications and pathways for independent living, employment and essential skills.
City and Islington College is an accessible college, and we are committed to providing adjustments to ensure our disabled students can succeed.
Our Access Support team contact all applicants who have disclosed a disability on their application form for a confidential discussion on any support that may be required. Some learners prefer to let their tutors and teachers know of their support needs when they are already on course. This results in a referral to the Access Support team who will then work with the teaching staff as well as the student.
The team also assist students experiencing mental health difficulties. They are qualified to listen to learners’ concerns and ensure that appropriate adjustments are made in college. They can act on a learner’s behalf with teachers and tutors, or help learners access support from within the college or from external agencies. Any conversation that is had with a learner is treated confidentially and sensitively.
